Same Sex Wedding on The Path of Gods – Amalfi Coast
James and Charles same sex wedding was unique and memorable.
They are a young gay couple from San Francisco who decided to elope to the Amalfi Coast because of its romantic scenery. Their plan was unique. They wanted to hike the Path of The Gods, starting in the morning from Praiano and climbing to the Convent of Santa Maria a Castro, an ancient worship place surrounded by nature and overlooking a breathtaking view on Positano and the Amalfi Coast. The plan was also clear and simple: once they arrived on site, they would get ready and have a symbolic ceremony open-air in front of the church, followed by a toast and a buffet on the veranda.
The elopement was attended by only two friends, another same sex couple, who in turn celebrated the symbolic wedding. There was also a special guest, their little daughter.
The climb to the Path of Gods
Before hiring me, they warned that the climb would be hard enough, and asked me if I felt like going and if I would be able to do that. Fortunately, since I also do landscape photography, I often climb mountains to take photos at sunrise and sunset. So yes, I was ready for the challenge.
We left Praiano, and after a long climb following signs to the Path of Gods, we got to the convent in about an hour and half. What a ravishing place! I had never been in such a romantic place for a ceremony. It was also a lovely day in late May, so the temperature was just perfect. But most of all, the stunning view on the surrounding landscape was the ideal backdrop to shoot this lovely same sex wedding.
A unique Venue for this Same Sex Wedding
James and Charles exchanged the rings in front of what is probably the most beautiful view on the Amalfi Coast. The ceremony was very moving, with touching speeches, tears and emotions. The whole time, the filmmaker and I kept shooting not to miss one single moment.
